Special Abilities

Chew (Ex) A trollchoppy has oversized maw capable of gnawing through flesh and bone easily. When a trollchoppy bites creature it is already attached to, it does not apply its Strength penalty to damage, and ignores up to 5 points of Damage Reduction of any type.

Troll chop puppies, or trollchoppies are made, not born, and yet they are fully alive creatures. When a piece of a troll's flesh and bones is chopped away, it usually shrivels and die soon after. However, if sustained with right nutrients and carefully cut, prodded, and stimulated, it can grow into a stunted, grotesque miniature of a troll. Some of the people who managed to grow their own trollchoppies, speculate that such remnants retained sliver of soul strong enough to sustain its life, but not strong enough to make them regrow into a full-sized troll.

Trollchoppies might also sprout spontaneously from particularly badly mangled troll corpses, including those whose souls were trapped or damaged, giving some credence to that hypothesis.

Trollchoppies are gluttonous and often troublesome creatures, but also resilient, tenacious, and potentially very loyal to their masters—they can bound to a 5th level caster with Improved Familiar feat.
